News

Good news, the exhibition of all my recent work including the new abstracts and large scale Diptychs and Triptychs. at Coombe Gallery 20 Foss St Dartmouth Devon even with lockdown was more successful than I could have imagined.

I am also very pleased to announce that I shall be showing new work at the www.moncrieff-bray.com gallery near Petworth Sussex in the Autumn. The exhibition will begin on November 4th and will continue until Christmas

Some of the new work has been as a result of me being asked to write an appraisal of Hannemuhle papers which will appear in the August edition of The Artist magazine. I was familiar with some of these papers as they are sold in my favourite art shop in Prague. However, many of the papers were new to me and it was great to experiment with them.

Most of the beautiful photos of me on this site were taken by the very talented Owen Tozer. I’m delighted to say that, as a result of both of us being in lockdown in Devon this year Owen has made a stunning film of me painting. I hope to add this to the site very soon so you may get a feel for how I work and my immediate surroundings.

Courses have been moved back and forth this year due to CoVid regulations so I will not be teaching until August. For more details do visit the courses page or go to www.coombefarmstudios.com.

Magazine article

I am fortunate to have a four page ” in Conversation ” feature in the November issue of “The Artist” Magazine on sale now. http://www.painters-online.co.uk

Basically I’m talking about my life and my development as an artist from a tender age to the present day. I began painting at the age of ten and achieved notoriety by the age of 15. I had my first solo exhibition at the Richmond Hill Gallery at the age of 16. At that time I was working in oils, painting largely social realistic subjects from my studio in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. Subjects included Pit heads, slag heaps and coal miners with their ponies. Typical of my style at the beginning of my career would be the painting entitled “Water Lane”in my first blog.

I have been writing articles for the magazine for at least 30 years so it’s nice to have one written about me! You can find details at www.painters-online.co.uk where you can buy the magazine. It should also be in WH Smith and all good newsagents. Enjoy!

This trip to Catania Sicily has been moved several times due to CoVid but, all being well, should be happening again at the beginning of October. I’m gutted at not being there earlier in the year as I should have been when Etna was exploding, but the volcano will still be there in October!
